Dr. Joseph Tackie, Board Chairman
Dr. Joseph (Joe) Tackie is currently the Chairman of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Policy Network (APN) and has several years of practical experience in working with the Private and Public Sectors in Ghana.
Dr. Tackie served as the Chief Director at the Ministry of Business Development established by H.E. President Nana Akufo-Addo in February 2017. He previously served as the CEO of the National Medium-Term Private Sector Development Strategy (PSDS II) under the Office of the President. He also served as the Coordinator of the Trade Sector Support Programme (TSSP) and the Industrial Sector Support Programme (ISSP) at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
He is credited with coordinating and facilitating the establishment of the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX) from inception and served as Chairman of the GCX Steering Committee. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Board for Small Scales Industries (NBSSI now GEA) and the Steering Committee of the Ghana Skills and Technology Development Programme (GSTDP).
As an accomplished entrepreneur, Dr. Tackie is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Global Entrepreneurship Solutions, Meaty Foods Limited, Microchip Technologies Ltd., and Co-Founder and Executive Director of Small Business Development Foundation.
As a Leadership and Business Development Consultant, Dr. Tackie had an extensive engagement in business consulting at O.I.M International B.V. (Cape Town, S. Africa) in Organizational Structuring and Re-structuring, Strategic Human Resources Development, Development of Codes of Conduct and Monitoring Mechanisms, Leadership Training and Coaching amongst others.
He served as an expert in the finalisation of the UNCTAD Entrepreneurship Policy Framework for developing countries at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva.
He was an Adjunct Lecturer in Entrepreneurship Strategies at the Graduate Business School of Central University and has delivered several seminars and talks on Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation.
He was adjudged the First Overall Winner of the ‘Believe-Begin-Become’ 2006 – National Business Plan Competition by Google Foundation and TechnoServe (Ghana) for the Development of Entrepreneurship in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, and Swaziland. He subsequently hosted Larry Page, the founder of Google to Ghana in 2007.
Dr. Tackie holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Agriculture, MBA in Entrepreneurial Management, and Doctorate in Business Leadership (DBL).
Dr. Tackie was the first Recipient of the High Impact Personality Award at the 2015 SME Ghana Awards. He was also awarded the Private Sector Development Chief Executive of the Year Award in 2016 and also the Chamber Special Award for 2017 – The Business Development Technocrat from the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, (GNCCI).
Menson Torkornoo (Noble, FBI), Member
Menson is an inspirational leader and has strong interpersonal skills and proven success in driving business performance in high profile assignments. Has practical strategy and operational experience in Entrepreneurship, Aquaculture, Banking, Organisational Strategy, Auditing, Accounting and Financial Services sector. He is a strong advocate to developing and teaching entrepreneurship studies from primary school to tertiary level education, also an advocate to teaching the 3Hs (Head, Heart, Hand) in all strata of education to make education meaningful and holistic. His Christian beliefs have instilled in him Character, Values, Integrity, Self-Discipline and Responsibility, as he believes that these are his greatest assets.
His educational and professional background includes the following: Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Management Sciences, MBA (Banking and Finance), all at Enugu State University of Science and Technology in Nigeria, Chartered Accountant , (CA Ghana) Chartered Institute of Accountants, Ghana; Chartered Banker, (ACIB) Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. Career, Corporate and Professional Development includes: Audit Manager- Onwufuju Giwa-Osagie &Co, Chartered Accountants; Audit Manager-Alabi Bakoh Ekundare & Co, Chartered Accountants; Managing Partner-Eghosa Tunde Oni & Co, Chartered Accountants; General Manager-BCM Finance and Securities Limited. He had a stint with Stoy Hayward, the fifth largest Accounting Firm in London in 1989.
Menson was appointed Deputy Managing Director in 2006 and Managing Director in 2009 at Amalbank and subsequently retired in 2011. He also held the following corporate positions: Non-Executive Director-UMB, Board Chairman-ABii National Savings and Loans Limited, Non-Executive Director-NDK Capital, Board Chairman-Winners Chapel International. He is the Board Chairman of Rehobothgoshen Ventures Limited, producers of Aquatork Natural Mineral Water, Executive Director at Chiropractic and Wellness Center, as well as Governing Council Member of West Africa Noble’s Forum.
Francis Komla Nyoagbe, Executive Director
Francis has comprehensive experience across Investment Banking, Retail, Consultancy & Training and Mining. Prior to joining UMB-IHL, he was the Head of Corporate Finance & Research at National Trust Holding Company Limited (NTHC) where he provided leadership for the transformation of its Investment Management and Corporate Finance.
Francis joined NTHC from Strategic African Securities Limited where he was Manager, Corporate Finance and Investment Research. Prior to that he had worked in various roles including Consultant/Trainer and Assistant Accountant. He has over the years acquired rich experience in the areas of investment management, privatization, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and financial restructuring.
